Valentine's Craft Week

Happy Valentine's Week! We did our share of Valentine's crafts. 

Tavin and Matilda were making hand-heart trees at a friend's house. 

They have a fun wall in the background, don't they?!

Valentine's crafts at the library after story time. Matilda was devouring a ring pop from the librarian.

Our Five In A Row story this week was The Giraffe That Walked To Paris. Based on a true story! The kids colored maps, giraffes and played with giraffe and camel cut-outs that I printed on card stock. It was fun!

Put them to work young while they still think it is fun!

Painting ice with water colors. I have wanted them to try this for awhile. It was fun but they didn't stay at it as long as I had anticipated.

He is solving a very complex mathematical problem here, we just don't know it.

Abe has wanted to get his hands on the abacus ever since he first saw it. As you can see it is a great distraction for his hands and feet during diaper changes.

These puzzles still get a lot of use, Nana!

Modeling clay or any type of play dough is fun for Matilda.

Glow sticks in the bath tub! 

This was a fun thing to do for the week of reading Night of the Moon Jellies.

Hot chocolate and marshmallows after playing in the snow.

Sorting and counting poker chips (courtesy Great Grandma Elaine) while wearing pajamas, a compass, binoculars and a pirate hat. Best math lesson ever!

Animal tracks in snow play dough!

Tavin, Ethan, Audrey, Sophie and Matilda. Our theme this week with our friends was Animal Tracks, which went along nicely with the book we were reading.

We went on a little nature walk with our friends to look for animal tracks. 

We mostly found rabbit tracks. Matilda is saying, "Look Mommy! Animal tracks!"

Tavin insisted that I take pictures of them all.

We went to the Washington Pavillion for a story time with a train theme. 

They were making name trains. 

It just so happened that Piper had some artwork on display at the Pavillion too! Good job, Piper!

On the way to a birthday party! Matilda was making sure we were going in the right direction.

Balloons, stickers, and glow sticks! Oh my! We were at Toby's, my friend's family restaurant for a birthday party. The kids had a great time!
