Mrs. Peters' Birthday Cake!

We love the book, The Seven Silly Eaters and have talked about making Mrs. Peters' birthday cake. I gave it a Google and found a couple of recipes.

Preserving Childhood

The Perry Nature Area/Mary Jo Wagner Arboretum is a special place that should be in every childhood. The little creek is a child's delight!

Right away Abe charged into the water, got soaking wet and just about gave me a heart attack. So after that it just got easier and more fun.

We remembered to bring some nets, jars and our nature field guide. As for the rest, nature provided all that was needed for a fun afternoon.

We found lots of little acorns!

Adorable.

After baths they were inspired to make special creations with their findings.

Leaf Hunt

Finishing up our M is for Moon unit with cuisenaire rods...

...and listening to Mozart, "A Little Night Music" and pretending to walk on the moon with our "bean bags" (bags of Goldfish Crackers) on our heads.

And of course we ate the Goldfish Crackers, too.

A nice, quiet trip to the zoo!
