Camping at Palisades State Park

Exquisite scenery to admire while camping at the Palisades State Park! When we made our reservations back in August for a camping weekend in October we never would have guessed we'd have the near perfect weather for fall camping. Those little cabins are gems and now we know why one has to be quick to get a cabin reserved.

Beautiful nature trails, the nature right outside our cabin door, the campfire, glow sticks and the little playground tucked into a little wooded area kept us more than happy.

We learned a lot about camping with children and will be better prepared now for the next time. We were all so grubby that we went straight from the van to the bathtub when we arrived home!

I think we succeeded at creating some wonderful memories to cherish for years to come!

Tavin's Birthday

A roll up magnet dart board that came in a cool canister container and a knight on a horse were his start of a great day.

I'm six!

Cheesy grin.

Cheesy grin.

We played over at a friend's house in the morning, had a picnic lunch and then headed on to downtown Sioux Falls for a fancy treat at CH Patisserie. I don't think that this particular place is used to having a mother with her young children in their establishment. Oh well, we probably behaved better than most adults. ;-)

Abe wasn't sure if he was getting his fair share.

I was surprised that Matilda gobbled this up, but then I don't think one could go wrong with any of the available choices.

Mmmmm...

After our fancy dessert we headed over to a park to have some fun. It was a beautiful day and a bit of alright for a six-year-old boy's birthday. (Too bad Daddy was out of town but we all had fun together when he returned!)

Farm Days!

We took a field trip out to Little Village Farm and got to see some old tractors and many other antiques. The most popular was probably the old jail cell which inspired some rough and tough "Cops and Robbers" play.

We were invited out to a friend's farm for Old-Fashioned Fun Fall Day. The weather was a little chilly but we still had a good time. Chickens, kittens, sack races, scavenger hunts and more! We were so glad that Piper and Raina were able to join us as well!
