It has been a heat wave around here. Playtime outside is either early in the morning, early in the evening or very brief moments during the afternoon. All during winter you wish for warmer temperatures so you can be outside, but during a heat wave you just want to stay inside where it is cool in the air conditioning. It hardly seems fair. Tavin and I did go to the kiddie pool after dinner the other evening and that was a bit of alright. Luckily, the pool stays open until 8:45 pm, when it isn't as hot, for pregnant mommy's like myself.
Tavin blowing bubbles at a birthday party on Saturday. There were water balloons, side walk chalk, a pinata, pizza, and cupcakes. He was the youngest kiddo there but he held his own and had a good time.
Tavin sure does like the fish, he proves it by giving Daddy a big smile while pointing at some.
Tavin enjoys slapping the glass of the aquarium to make sure the fish notice him.
We had a nice family day today. We went out to lunch at Cafe Brule. (A newer restaurant in town.) Tavin was pretty well behaved up until the end when he decided he just didn't want to sit and be a good boy any longer. Completely understandable as he was all done with his meal but at least it was at the end of our meal too. To avoid a scene, I took Tavin outside to look into the windows of the stores nearby while Daddy settled up with the waiter. The store right next to the restaurant is an art gallery/store. Tavin walked up to the window, looked at a painting and said, "ah, nice." Oh he makes me laugh.
We then went to Yankton to see Gavin's Point Dam, the Aquarium and the Fish Hatchery. The aquarium is small but put a smile on Tavin's face, which is all we really wanted out of it. We decided to skip the fish hatchery as it was all outside in the hot, hot sun. After that, we decided to go back home and enjoy some ice cream and air conditioning. It was a good day!
